Building Operator Certification® (BOC) teaches building operators to find practical, low-cost and no-cost efficiency solutions by working with existing systems. Independent research shows that BOC operators consistently save money and energy in their facilities – up to $20,000 a year – thanks to energy conservation projects, air quality improvements, and other initiatives. Plus, the savings are instant and continuous.

What is offered?
The Mississippi Development Authority has partnered with Mississippi State University to offer the Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level I training.
What is Building Operator Certification?
· BOC is a nationally recognized, competency-based training and certification program for facilities managers, building engineers and maintenance technicians to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings.
· BOC trains facilities personnel to understand how building systems work together, and how to bring them to their most efficient level of operation.
· Training topics include HVAC, lighting and electrical systems, indoor air quality, environmental health and safety and energy conservation.
What is involved?
The Level I training consists of 8 days of virtual classroom training, project assignments to be completed at the participant’s facility, and in-class tests administered at the end of each day of training. Completion of Level I training requires a time commitment of 74 hours.
